Welcome back to York Walls Festival 2019, where plans for the festival are well underway! A recent festival meeting held on the 23rd May saw a plethora of ideas coming together to organise an exciting weekend for all on the 10th and 11th August. We have great news that in April we secured a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £10,000! This grant will enable us to further expand our ideas for the festival, involving new partners and new activities across two full days. For a full list on what we plan to use the grant for, see here

Additionally, I would like to introduce two new members to York Walls Festival, Rebecca and Holly. The two interns from York St. John University will be helping with the marketing and promotion of the festival, organising events and providing an extra point of contact. They are both extremely excited to join the team and immerse themselves in this opportunity.

Holly Graham – Intern

Finally, after selling out of our afternoon talk, ‘What the walls meant to the city in the medieval period’ at King’s Manor, we have arranged a second talk to take place on the morning of the 27th July. This event is free to all and going fast! You can book onto this event here, and we look forward to seeing you there. For now, we will continue to plan a wonderful weekend and hope you can make it to explore York’s beautiful heritage with us.
